The University of Helsinki Biomedical Thesis Award to Terhi Kärpänen

The University of Helsinki Biomedical Thesis Award for an exceptional biomedical thesis in the year 2006 was awarded to PhD Terhi Kärpänen for her thesis Lymphatic vessels in health and disease: Role of the VEGF-C/VEGFR-3 pathway and the transcription factor FOXC2.

The University of Helsinki Biomedical Thesis Award, established in 1999, provides recognition to exceptional theses in the area of biomedicine. The award is funded by Licentia Ltd.

The board of the Helsinki Biomedical Graduate School nominates a selection panel, which this year consisted of Academy Research Fellow Tanya Petrova, Adjunct Professor Petri Bono and Academy of Finland Research Fellow Brendan Battersby. All doctoral theses from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Biosciences of the University of Helsinki are considered for the annual award.
