Helsinki Biomedical Thesis Award to Henna Tyynismaa
The University of Helsinki Biomedical Thesis Award for an exceptional biomedical thesis in the year 2007 was awarded to PhD Henna Tyynismaa for her thesis Mitochondrial helicase Twinkle in mtDNA copy number regulation and a late-onset disease model.
The University of Helsinki Biomedical Thesis Award provides recognition to outstanding theses in the area of biomedicine. The award is funded by Licentia Ltd (http://www.licentia.fi/). The board of Helsinki Biomedical Graduate School nominates the selection panel of the award which consisted this year of Academy Research Fellow Sampsa Hautaniemi, Academy Research Fellow Carina Holmberg-Still, and Adjunct Professor Pentti Tienari. All doctoral theses from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Biosciences of the University of Helsinki are considered for the annual award.
